Lola & Luna

I had the pleasure of meeting Lola & Luna, accompanied by their wonderful humans, Abbi & Andrew, on a delightful Spring afternoon at one of my most cherished creek-side parks. This photoshoot had been in the works for months, and undertaking a journey of over 1000 miles to capture the incredible spirit of Denver's dogs was no small feat.

From the very first exchange of emails with Abbi, I could sense that this family was going to be an absolute joy.

Abbi's words resonated with her & Andrews desire to revel in playful moments with their beloved pups, bask in the grass, and seize those uniquely precious memories.

In the days leading up to our anticipated adventure, I neurotically checked the Denver weather, holding my breath as one storm after another drenched the landscape. Just when my anxiety peaked, the storms subsided days before I navigated those familiar streets once more. I was elated at the forecast of clear weather, heralding the dog photography marathon that drew me back to Denver.

However, a hint of trepidation set in when I set eyes on the roaring river that had once been the serene Clear Creek. You see, one of the reasons we selected this picturesque spot was to allow the sweet senior, Lola, a chance to frolic in the water. Although Lola's aquatic escapade had to be skipped due to the surging waters, her devoted parents made up for it with extra snuggles in the grass – Lola's true favorite.

Several years back, Lola welcomed her forever friend, Luna, from the reservation. While it took some time for young Luna to unfold her vibrant personality, her elder sibling guided her every step of the way.

Today, Luna has blossomed into the social butterfly she was destined to be, a testament to the loving bond they share.

Life today moves so fast, it becomes incredibly easy to get swept up in the day to day and forget to take time for the truly special moments that make it all worth it. An extra hug and a kiss for that special soul who means the most to you; a moment to sit quietly with those you love and watch the world sweep by or a laugh brought on in a moment of playfulness. These are the lessons dogs have mastered and seem be patiently trying to teach us too.
