Cat Photography in North Idaho
Capturing Your Feline Friend’s Personality
Some cats are social butterflies who will eagerly sniff out a new visitor and claim their lap as a throne. Others vanish into the depths of the house at the first sign of a stranger.
A good way to decide if your cat would enjoy a session is to think about how they react when company comes over:
- Do they hide under the bed until the coast is clear?
- Do they cautiously observe from a distance before making an appearance?
- Do they confidently stroll into the room, ready to investigate?
If your cat is even a little bit social or curious, they’re likely to do just fine in a photo session! Even if they’re shy, we’ll take things slowly and work with their comfort level. However, if your cat loathes every moment of someone else being in the house, a photographer following them around may be more stress than it's worth.

Capturing Your Cat’s True Personality
Unlike dogs, who are generally eager to please, cats couldn’t care less about following commands. That’s why cat photography sessions tend to be much more documentary-style. I let your cat take the lead, and I follow—sometimes literally crawling around your home like a National Geographic photographer, just waiting for that perfect moment.
Here’s how we can tailor the session to your cat’s personality:
- Playful Cats – If your cat loves to chase feather wands or pounce on their favorite toy, we’ll capture action shots full of movement and energy.
- Lounging Cats – If your cat prefers the good life, we’ll find them in their favorite sunspot or curled up in their coziest nook.
- Curious Explorers – If your cat is adventurous, we’ll follow them as they investigate their surroundings, whether indoors or outside.
Where Do Cat Photography Sessions Take Place?
Most cats feel safest at home, so that’s usually where we’ll do the session. Your cat’s environment plays a big role in their personality, and I love capturing them in their favorite spaces—whether that’s on a window perch, stretched out on the couch, or ruling the backyard like a tiny lion.
That said, I have worked with a handful of fearless felines who enjoy venturing outdoors. If your cat is leash-trained or comfortable outside, we can explore a secure garden or other safe outdoor setting.

Ready to Capture Your Cat’s Unique Spirit?
If you’re a cat lover in North Idaho and want to capture stunning, personality-filled photos of your feline companion, I’d love to help! Whether they’re playful, curious, or just a little bit sassy, I’ll make sure we capture the moments that make them them.
What If You Have Both Cats and Dogs?
Many of my clients have a mix of pets, and we can absolutely include both your cat and dog in a session! Since cats and dogs often have different energy levels and preferences, we can structure the session to fit both with a split session.
For example:
- We start at home, where your cat is comfortable, capturing beautiful portraits of them in their element.
- Then, we take the adventure outdoors for action shots of your dog at the park or on a trail.
- If your pets are friends, we’ll capture their interactions—whether that’s playful antics or a sweet moment of them relaxing together.
