The Yoga Dog Project

The Yoga Dog Project – A Visual Meditation on Connection

Through yoga, we seek balance, presence, and self-acceptance. We quiet the mind so the soul can speak. We try to integrate our shadow side, to be whole.

And the more I practiced, the more I realized—these are things our dogs already know how to do. Instinctively.

That’s what inspired The Yoga Dog Project—a photo series that captures the quiet, powerful connection between humans and their dogs through the practice of yoga. Dogs live fully in the moment. They accept us completely, including the parts we’re still learning to accept in ourselves. Maybe that’s why every time I unroll my mat, mine come right over. It’s probably the only time they think, “Hey, your energy finally matches mine.”

This project lived in my heart for over a year before I brought it to life with my sister Katrina and her sweet dog, Rudy. We launched it on January 11th, 2019 (yep—1/11), and I’m still so grateful for the warmth it received.

The people in these photos are real yogis with their real dogs—some seasoned, some brand new to the mat. We photographed them through one of the wildest winters I’ve experienced in Colorado: snow, frozen ground, and winds strong enough to knock you out of a pose. But somehow, that just added to the depth of it all.

Each image is shot in silhouette to strip away distractions—no labels, no breeds, no leggings. Just form, energy, and connection.

The Yoga Dog Book

The full collection of images was published as a hardcover book at the end of 2019. It’s a visual love letter to the practice and the pups who walk beside us on the path.

Book Your Own Yoga Dog Session

While the book itself is complete, the heart of the project lives on in the sessions I continue to offer.

These personalized Yoga Dog Sessions are $150 and include a $100 print credit, so you walk away with meaningful, custom art from your time together. Whether you’re deep into your yoga journey or just like to stretch with your dog nearby, this is about capturing the energy between you.

No perfect poses required. No pressure for your dog to “behave.” Just real moments, real connection, and a little magic.
