Colorado Pet Pantry Calendar:

6 Years of Pet Stars & Community Impact

A Fundraiser Born in Crisis

In the spring of 2020, as the world shut down and one fundraiser after another was canceled, the need for community support skyrocketed—especially for organizations like Colorado Pet Pantry. I had a camera, a lot of time, and a wild hope to maybe raise a few hundred dollars to help out.

The idea was quirky but just made sense for the times: a pet photo contest that could be done entirely from home. It had all the right elements—no crowds, online voting, and outdoor, one-on-one photo sessions that were safe and still full of joy.

Six Years, Over $102,000 Raised

What started as a small idea quickly turned into something incredible. In our first year alone, we raised over $17,000. And year after year, Colorado’s pet lovers continued to show up in a big way—supporting not just their furry friends, but entire families in need. Altogether, this calendar contest has now raised over $102,000 to support the mission of keeping pets with the people who love them. That's enough funds to feed 20,400 Colorado pets for an entire month!

Why Colorado Pet Pantry Matters

Colorado Pet Pantry plays a critical role in preventing pet homelessness by providing food to families in need. By keeping pets with their owners during times of financial difficulty, the Pantry helps reduce shelter intakes and ensures that furry family members aren’t separated due to hardship. It's about compassion, dignity, and connection—something we could all use a bit more of.

Memorable Pet Stars Along the Way

Each year, the contest brings out a vibrant mix of characters. Here are some standouts whose stories have warmed our hearts:

Gunny (Dr. O):

The original cover dog and self-declared "Doctor of Awesomeness," Gunny took his role as backyard guardian and pediatric PR pup very seriously.

Cloe the Pocket Pittie:

A three-legged dynamo who stole hearts with her strength and sass.

Pirate:

Fireplace hog, squirrel chaser, and pro snuggler—this beagle rescue’s living his best life with Max, Lucy, and zero personal space.

Watson the Super Puggle:

Rescued from the brink, he spent his years helping others and spreading joy until his final bow last year.

Norman:

A sun-loving, chill cancer survivor grateful for his second chance.

Apples the Duck:

A sassy, fence-watching duck who doesn’t mind dogs—as long as they stay on their side.

LuLu the Cat:

The calendar’s first feline feature, LuLu used her platform to advocate for kitties and the mission of keeping pets at home.

River:

A graceful elder who survived a kill shelter and cancer, River reminded us all of the strength in second chances.

Dawson:

This adventurous, people-loving pup knows how to live large and laugh often

Why I Keep Coming Back

Even after relocating, I couldn’t let this fundraiser go. Each year, I return to Denver to photograph these incredible pets and meet their families. It’s become more than a calendar—it’s a community, a tradition, and a deeply meaningful part of my life.

This Year’s Theme: The Real House Pets of Colorado

We're looking for personality-packed pets who can bring the drama, the glam, and the giggles to our 2025 calendar. Whether your furball thinks they’re a celebrity or just acts like one, we want to see them shine.
