3 Best Spring Hikes Near Coeur d’Alene for You & Your Dog 🌸🐕

As the days get longer and trails start to dry out, it's the perfect time to dust off your hiking boots and hit the trails with your furry best friend. Whether you're looking to shake off the winter sluggishness or you're just craving some sunshine and fresh air, spring is a magical season in North Idaho.

Here are three of my favorite short spring hikes near Coeur d’Alene—perfect for dogs, humans, and anyone who’s been counting the days ‘til wildflower season!

1. Post Falls Community Forest

Why we love it: Easy terrain, peaceful vibes, and a great “welcome back” to hiking season.

After a long winter, it’s totally normal to feel a little out of shape (hey, same here!). That’s why Post Falls Community Forest is a favorite for easing back into the groove. The trails are scenic but not too demanding, with plenty of space to explore without the crowds. It’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon walk or a spontaneous post-work adventure with your pup.

2. Tubbs Hill

Why we love it: Classic lake views and a local gem—before the summer crowds roll in.

If you live in Coeur d’Alene, chances are you already know and love Tubbs Hill. But here’s the trick: early spring is one of the best times to enjoy this iconic spot. The weather’s cool, the trails are usually clear, and most tourists haven’t arrived yet. That means you and your dog can enjoy peaceful lakeside paths and maybe even catch the sunset without bumping elbows with a hundred other hikers.

3. Mineral Ridge

Why we love it: Spring wildflowers + sweeping views = absolute trail magic.

Mineral Ridge is a short but moderately challenging loop that really shines in the spring. As the snow recedes, wildflowers start to bloom all along the trail, and by the time you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most stunning views of Lake Coeur d’Alene. It’s the kind of trail that makes you feel alive—and makes your dog feel like a mountain goat. Win-win.

Ready to Capture the Season?

If you and your pup are loving spring as much as I am, it’s also a beautiful time to update your photos. Blooming trails, green backdrops, and soft golden light? Yes, please. I’ve got a few session spots still open this April and am booking into May now.
